In this week’s Five Minute Market Review, the Precedent team continues part of last week’s conversation around August, finishing in the negative as a whole. To set the stage, we’re officially done with August, and while we were able to finish last week positive, the month as a whole finished negative. Year to date, the S&P is up by 18.86%. However, August finished negative by 1.63%. Both the growth and the value side of the market were down for the month, NASDAQ was down for the month, and foreign stocks were down for the month by about 4%. Not to mention, September is historically known to be the worst month of the year for the U.S. equity market. With the less-than-desirable results we saw in August, should investors be more concerned than usual?
